Main Application Scenarios of Oil-Immersed Transformers

2025-12-22

With excellent heat dissipation performance, reliable insulation effect and mature technical system, oil-immersed transformers have become one of the most widely used core equipment in power systems. Their application scenarios are closely aligned with different power transmission and supply needs, covering large-scale projects, industrial production, people's livelihood security and other fields. The specific analysis is as follows.

First, large-scale power transmission and transformation projects. In backbone power grids across provinces and regions, and supporting power transmission projects for 1000MW-class generator sets, oil-immersed transformers are core equipment. Their large capacity and high load-bearing capacity can meet the power transmission needs of 1000MVA and above, effectively alleviate the contradiction between regional power supply and demand, and ensure the stability of long-distance power transmission. For example, a large number of high-efficiency oil-immersed transformers are used in key national energy projects such as the West-to-East Power Transmission Project.

In addition, the high-energy-consuming industrial and mining fields are also core application scenarios. During the production process of steel, chemical, mining and other industries, the power consumption is large and the load fluctuates frequently. The low-loss characteristics and strong short-circuit resistance of oil-immersed transformers can adapt to such high-load working conditions and ensure the continuous and stable production power supply.

Finally, they are increasingly widely used in new energy power generation supporting projects. In the grid connection link of wind power and photovoltaic power stations, oil-immersed transformers can realize the step-up transmission of new energy power, adapt to the intermittent characteristics of new energy power generation, improve the power grid's ability to absorb clean energy, and help optimize and upgrade the energy structure.
